Ways to Ruin Your Weekend (and make you seethe with anger for the next week or so) No. 102
While tightening one of the bolts that connects your swingarm to your frame, snap the bolt off in the frame, rendering the entire bike screwed.
I have my fingers crossed that Leisure Lakes can work some magic on it.
Oooh… crap. Good work sir.
I take it you tried the cutting-a-slot-in-it-and-using-a-screwdriver method, or is it too far in? Perhaps the slightly more dangerous electric drill running in reverse technique?
Is now a bad time to mention torque wrenches?
June 4th, 2008 at 12:25 pmUnfortunately the bolt remnant is flush with the frame so no slot-cutting possible there.
I’ll leave it to Leisure Lakes to give it a go - I think I’ve made enough of a mess of it aleady! Not heard of the drill technique.
As for torque wrenches, I was using one set to the torque levels on the Orange website.

might help ?
June 4th, 2008 at 12:40 pmYeah, those might work but the bolt diameter is too small in this case. I think it’s an M5 (maybe M4) so drilling it and getting an extractor into it isn’t very likely.
June 4th, 2008 at 12:44 pmIf it is any consolation I don’t have a CLUE what you are on about?? But I could make you a nice cup of tea to cheer things up a little if that would help? xx
June 4th, 2008 at 11:09 pmDid they manage to fix it then? WE DEMAND ANSWERS!
June 17th, 2008 at 9:50 amSorry - have been in France. Latest is that the frame has gone back to Orange to see if they can sort it. Apparently I’m looking at around 150 squids to get it all sorted.
I wish I’d never touched it now.
