Value-Added? I Think So!
The SHIFT key on my apple keyboard seems to be prone to sticking and not depressing fully when performing those tricky 84-key Photoshop shortcuts so I thought I’d treat myself to one of the new Apple slimline keyboards (any excuse for a new toy).
I hopped on to the Apple site and found them only to see that there were English and English (Int’l) versions. I was then left wondering if the English one was US or UK and whether I was supposed to order the international one. “If only I could ask someone” I thought, at which point I noticed Chat Now in the nav bar. I click on it and a new little window appears with a greeting in from an Apple expert.

I ask my question and not only get the response I was after but I get the offer of them staying available should I require any more help! I am 99% sure it was a genuine person and not some automated system as we had a little bit of banter as I said goodbye. I can’t believe that this system is in place and actually works! Nice one Apple.
so.. which do you need?
damn you Mr Half-Story!

September 19th, 2007 at 1:30 pmApple must have invented this as its on their site… *ahem* Your a web person i’d have thought you’d have seen loads of these chat things by now. They are all the rage. There is a great one on the 3 website, ask them about free ringdings
September 19th, 2007 at 3:31 pmIt’s more the fact that it works and the person knew what they were talking about. I know that the technology isn’t new but a useful, working implementation is new to me.
September 19th, 2007 at 4:25 pmMy favourite so far (and by far the most useless) is “Ask Anna” on the Ikea site!! Priceless. Just don’t ask her if she has a boyfriend or she gets very shirty…
Still, well done Mac! As an avid fan I am impressed.
