Brat Build: Day 1
OK, having taken all the bits out of the box, including the marillion screws in various little bags, I think this may take me a little longer to build than I first thought.

Kev immediately went into the zone and turned it into a race to see who could build it first. I am happy to lose the race though otherwise I’m likely to make a horrendous error and only put three wheels on (or something silly like that).
After a little over 1.5 hours build time (well, closer to 2 hours for me) we have both got to the following stage:

So that’ll be the main chassis, front suspension and bumper assembly then. I managed to get grease everywhere (nice). More tomorrow. Oh, I also just heard that my actual car failed its MOT and needs some new engine mounts. Bugger.
Sweet!
Is that metal bits on the suspension arms and steering rack?
Glad they did that, on my Tamiya from 1987 these are built into the gear box and made from plastic which sucks because as soon as you bin the front wheel into a wall things snap and you need to buy a new gear box casing, this seems much better.
Of course now I want a new toy.
So how long til you decide to change the motor for a faster one?
September 4th, 2007 at 1:56 pmYeah - although this is a reissue of the 1983 original so that would have had metal bits too.
I reckon it’ll take about 10 minutes of actual driving it for me to crave the Tamiya racing motor. Additional battery packs will come first though. And a big bass canon. And some neons. And spinners. Yeah, pimp it.
