Just A Quick One

Having spent most of Saturday afternoon and evening chained to my laptop it was good to have Jane (sister-in-law) and Dave (boyfriend-of-sister-in-law) come and visit on Sunday, forcing me to socialise.

We'd never met Dave before but he seems to be a jolly nice chap (I have to say that, he might be reading this :P ) and to make things even better he is a pretty keen biker so we headed up Leckhampton Hill.

I was shattered so found it a real struggle but not wanting to lose face in front of my latest riding buddy, I forced my legs to work and conquered all but the last kick at the end of DPA. There was still a fair bit of the white stuff lying atop the hill so I can say that I have ridden in snow this year (albeit slushy, muddy snow).

Dave seems excited about the snow

It was pretty slippery in places and there was an evil wind whipping around the view point but we were treated to bright sunshine and awesome views across the 'Nam and the surrounding area.

Looking across to Cleeve in the sun

We came down off the hill via the crazy trails built by the The Hills Have Eyes crew and they were a little too slippery to be ridden sensibly. I failed to get a puncture (yay me) and Dave and I both failed to avoid slipping over in the mud. We had a great time and have already started making plans for trips to Wales, Scotland, Canada and the USA to ride. All we need to do now is get some cash to pay for it all…

  1. Dave Says:

Cheers for a good ride Owen, and loan of bike and tyre. The mud really makes you think about what line you’re gonna take - deviate just a little and you’re eating dirt.

Will deff make it up again at some point when it’s a little drier and my own bike is in better shape. Thx Anne (and Jane) for some gorgeous cup-cakes (the thought of which kept us going up the hills) and dinner.

    Altogether a proper “Bo” Sunday
PS the 2-3 photos I took are rubbish so deleted them
