Playstation 3 European Release

Sony have announced that the PS3 will be released in Europe on 23rd March. While it will no doubt be very powerful and quite popular, I shan't be buying one. This is not because I have recently fallen for the Wii, it is because it will cost a whopping £425! Ouch! I think that makes it the most expensive console ever released (although it's probably a close run thing with the Xbox 360).

If you have just over four hundred smackers burning a whole in your pocket, reserve one of the million that are coming to PAL territories for the launch. If not, buy a Wii. Or a football.

And how does $499 translate to 425 quid? and not 250 quid?

I will be interested to see how well the PS3 does, along with the price and delay in launch I think the other two consoles are already taking firm grips in the market. Also with Pro Evo Soccer next version only being out on the xbox for a year (I think, something like that) and GTA on other formats now its loosing its hold on great games as well.

I am very happy with my Wii and am enjoying playing games again, more so than with anything I played on my PS2.

Lets see what the rest of Europe thinks.

Oh and the price is seeing Sony loose money as well, now that’s madness!

it’s a complete balls up by sony.. .lose money on each unit, don’t make enough units, make the units too expensive, launch in Europe 3 months after christmas, make the units overly powerful when no games will utilize that, ok they’ve sold 2million units.. the Wii’s sold 3 million and all the buzz is about the Nintendo offering, with it being a more social experience.

    Sony Lose.
