I Should Be Sleeping
Phew. I have been planning to post all weekend but haven't had time so here goes…
Friday night saw a semi-surprise gathering for Brett's 30th birthday. I never realised that he was as old as me so now I feel slightly less like the fogey of the group. Anyhoo, we went to a small Italian restaurant called Franco's which seems to be run single-handedly by Franco himself who is hilarious. We all had a great time but I was pretty knackered so left after the meal - everyone else went to Slak but I went to bed! In the picture below, someone has just told Brett he is as old as me.

Saturday morning was put aside for a ride. Trayl texted me with a lame excuse for not coming along - no, he actually was lame due to a big leg workout in the gym that had left him unable to walk. The big jessie. The presence of Cookey more than made up for it though - you may remember him from my trip to Centre Parcs - who decided to venture out on his first offroad ride in 4 months! Olly came along too and we were soon enjoying the winter sun and gale-force winds.

Unfortunately, due to the torrential rain the night before we were cackwaplaning* all over the place. Special moments included my “Hey, where does this trail go?” only to find it went nowhere other than into a load of brambles, me falling off into another bramble bush (nothing new there then), Cookey riding past laughing only to fall off himself at the next corner, riding through a puddle that turned out to be so deep our feet were submerged (brrr), Olly's bike being attacked by a tree, Cookey falling off his bike at about 0.0001mph and the swampy descent of doom back towards Charlton Kings.
*cackwaplaning = like aquaplaning but done in wet, gloopy, slippery muck.

It was a cracking ride and I spent at least half of it laughing! I reckon it might become my favoured loop when things dry out a bit more!
Saturday afternoon saw the Oxley's drop in for a cuppa before Paul went on to speak at the Path. Mudz bought a cake and Nicki brought the shame of dissing someone to their face, not realising they were the same person.
Then SBG came round and we played with his Wii until an unhealthy hour. We feasted on pizza and burned all the calories off playing tennis! Anne loves it - I have never seen her so excited over a video game which means we can buy one!
Sunday morning saw Anne and I trolling off to Bristol for my nephew Noah's dedication service. I always look forward to seeing my nephews, particularly the eldest, Isaac, as he is a great laugh. He was very excited about his new toy car which he got for doing a poo (he is being potty trained). After the service we came home and chilled out for a while before watching Man Utd snatch defeat from the jaws of victory at the Emirates stadium. Still, at least Liverpool beat Chelsea so we still have a 6 point lead.
This morning was a tough start - it was cold and dark and the bed as so warm and comfortable. Still, I forced myself up and eventually plonked my tired butt on the saddle of Sin:Dee to ride to work. It was a cold and windy commute. When I got to work it was sleeting and by the time I had got changed it was snowing for real. It's going to be a cold ride home tonight…

You do some cray-zeeeeeee things! I sympathise with the cold ride today though - I rode to Uni with fingerless gloves and arrived… Fingerless?!? I then had to use a laptop keyboard… Hmmm…
MUST introduce you to JT’s bro at some point who is also an avid biker - I know he wanted to go cycling with Cookie so maybe you could all go
(given that I tend to pass out halfway to Daisybank!!)
January 22nd, 2007 at 1:46 pmYou see. I have a confession. I look at the pictures first. See if its important enough to skip reading the DP fora.
Pic 1. Brett. In Franco’s. About to lamp someone!
Pic 2. Dunno who it is (prolly not Olly) Damp. Muddy.
Pic 3. Olly. Damp. Muddy. And a Post.
Pic 4. The world famous Andoversford Industrial Estate. Blurry.
It was Pic 4 that made me read the post. Now I know it isn’t just a really appalling pic. It is a pic of snow…
Also - We play for 5 hours with my Wii. Anne thrashes us soundly at bowling (rightup to the last couple of bowls, where Annes performance resembles that of ManU, only with a whole lot more grace.) But the Tennis was fantastic. The Golf was good too. There must be a bug in the baseball game - I might take the whole thing back and get a refund because of it.

Anyway, you prove that it’s a good idea to put pictures on your website.
