Olly got me: "The object of the game is to reveal 5 things about you, which most readers probably don't know, then nominate 5 friends to do the same."
So then, here's five things you might not know about me:
- My first ever proper job was as a dispensing optician for Haine and Smith. At the time I had no idea what I wanted to do career-wise but I knew I didn’t really want to go college or university. In fact this experience has made me a bit of a champion of going on to further education a little later in life - why get saddled with a huge amount of debt if you don’t really know what you want to do? Wait a year or so and work it out before comitting to three years of study, drinking and overdrafts. <climbs down from soapbox>
- I once spent a week in a hospital for rhuematic diseases as a patient. I was 19 and the youngest person on the ward by at least 45 years. It was the most boring week of my life, mainly becaue I didn’t want to talk about the war or gardening, made slightly more interesting by the two attractive nurses and having a Bergström Muscle Biopsy Needle stuck in my leg.
- One of my childhood friends, Simon Rigby, had a father (surprisingly) who came up with the nickname of Ogwin Clog for me. To this day my Dad still calls me Ogwin or Og.
- I read comics. I know it’s not a particularly cool thing to do but I don’t care! I currently subscribe to Ultimate X-Men and Ultimate Spider-man. I have always liked comics, right from reading The Beano as a kid (I think it cost 8p when I first bought it) through to graphic novels like Watchmen. I also used to like reading the Commando comic books all about the war - maybe I was attracted by the notions of heroism. I suspect they are terribly politically incorrect now.
- I have quite a short attention span when it comes to jobs and hobbies. I suspect that in 5 years time I will be doing something completely different to graphic design (which in itself is my fourth career path to date). I also haven’t used my archery kit in over a year. I have only recently really got back into mountain biking and I’m not quite as enthusiastic about photography as I was a while ago (although that Canon 20D still rates as one of my best purchases ever). As far as hobbies go, I find it much easier to keep up with them if I have a friend to do them with. When I was riding on my own I lost interest but now I have a wide group of people to ride with it’s much more rewarding (although sometimes it feels like I’m the one who has to organise every ride).
So that’s me in a nutshell (almost). Feel free to leave a comment telling me that I’m a freak or that you have a similar experience or memory.
I now tag NaiT, Nae Lippett, Mudz, Tim Wright and Sara.

July 19th, 2007 at 9:01 amFirstly, I’m young girl and I have 8 workplaces in my experience already. There are some very strange ones among them
Secondly, every year I went to Texas to visit my grandma. She lived amid retirees, and I had to mix with them only - The youngest person was 51
And finally, I adore comics!
