Last night Anne and I went over the river to spend New Year with Tim and Lai. When we arrived we found that Hywel (who Anne and I used to work with), his fiancee Trish, Neil and Louise were all there too. Lai had prepared a fabulous meal with a little help from Tim and there was wine and beer aplenty.

For some reason people seem to be going mad for the whole dressing up smart thing and so for the second time in a couple of weeks I was the only guy not dressed like a penguin due to not owning a dinner jacket! This lack of similarity to James Bond effected my shooting in the Tin Can Alley menaing that I failed my Drunken Sharpshooter exam. Gutted.

Somehow Tim had managed to get his hands on a Wii in time for the party so there was much laughter and sweating as we all took it in turns to box, bowl, golf, tennis and baseball our way through another few bottles of wine. I haven't laughed so much in a long time and I definately want a Wii for my birthday. Or Easter. Or to celebrate next week in some way.

By 3am the girls had pretty much had enough so they all went off to bed and the chaps stayed up and played poker for another couple of hours. I had no idea how to play but it was good fun and there was plenty of cheese and biscuits to keep us going.
All in all it was a great night. New Year can tend to be a big disappointment but this was brilliant so many thanks to Tim and Lai for letting us join in the happy gathering.
Oh, I may have accidentally bought a DS Lite yesterday too.
In that fabulous tradition that I’m sure all new parents ascribe to, we stayed up till 3 am… because Katie our nearly-3-month old daugther decided to celebrate New Years Eve by repeatedly vomitting over her bed clothes about 5 minutes after we had put her into them and settled to get some sleep ourseleves, and then shouting/gurgling/gigling about the whole thing very loudly until she got fed. Then she woke up at 6 am and did it again.
Still, we are hoping at least to get a wash today….maybe, and change our clothes/eat something.
Happy New Year!!
January 1st, 2007 at 5:24 pmHappy New Year Mr Clay, hope you and your good lady wife have a great one
I too want a Wii but with my b/day at the end of this month I think I may have to wait. I’ve yet to even have a go on one. Nice to see people getting excited about Nintendo again
I might get round to updating my page at some point, I know you really wanna find out what I have been up to :p
January 1st, 2007 at 8:05 pmHappy new year!! The party sounds like fun, it seems a shame to be working again so soon….:-( When are you ‘back in the office’? I guess you have to spend a penny to have a wii !! BOOM BOOM. Over and out, I need sleep.
January 1st, 2007 at 9:01 pmHey - did you buy the brain thing.
It told me that I have the brain power of a supermarket check-out girl, or something like that. An insult to check-out girls I fear.
