Chowns, Clowns and Nouns

Mixed Tape 15 from Mercedes BenzLet me start by giving a quick shout about the new Mixed Tape (it's number fifteen you know) that is now available to download via the Mercedes-Benz website (which is still crap unfortunately with all kinds of automated pop-ups that get blocked left, right and centre). It seems a pretty good one thus far - I've listen to it through a couple of times and there are some good chowns on there, especially So Good Today by Ben Westbeech. Anyway, give it a listen and if you don't like it, delete it.

Warning - Impending Rant! What is it about winter that makes people think it's a good idea to drive really close to the car in front even though the roads are even more slippery and trecherous than normal? It's usually people in certain German cars too, apparently they think their odd-number-series cars will fit in the boot of my little Coupé. Flipping clowns.

This week we found a couple of errors on some labels that came back from print which is pretty annoying. Admittedly I'm not responsible for the copy but it's still gutting to see some artwork that I have slaved over ruined by a small typo. I think we are going to be using a proofreader from now on. I'm really enjoying working in my new office and won a contract to develop a couple of websites and some brochureware this week. That said, I am soooo looking forward to the weekend - I have that creeping feeling of exhaustion again so need a couple of lie-ins. I can't seem to do early nights for some reason. Despite feeling knackered I lie in bed awake until at least my usual bed time. Rubbish.

Everyone seems to be really busy right now, and it's mostly with work. It's rubbish really, this whole materialistic way of living. Working to earn more money to buy nicer things that we really don't need. I sometimes wish I could be a little more satisfied with what I have. Maybe I should try selling some of my stuff and seeing how I get on.

I'll be keeping the plasma though.

Oh, Anne's back tomorrow so I shall be feeling slightly more chipper in about 26 hours! Apparently she went to whistler for a couple of days but didn't ski. No, I don't understand either.

this goes to the download without the 19 popup windows.

I’ll give you £10 for the Plasma, your life will be very enriched without, or something :)

Matt - good skills young man.

Simon - I’m gonna go with “no, but thanks” on that one.

Interesting the whole materialism thing. I’ve been busting a gut at work the last couple of months and I’m now in a position where I can sit back for a few days (probably minutes). Whilst I don’t do it for free, I also do it from a sense of getting the job done properly.

Yeah, but at the end of the day that satisfaction is a by-product, not the reason you are there to begin with. If people didn’t have to work there to support their lifestyle, they’d be doing something for more enriching and satisfying (well, I know I would).

It’s a vicious circle really as we work harder to get more stuff but by working harder we end with less time to enjoy what we have.
