Rubbish Things No. 1: Failing Bike Lights

The danger of having no lights

Last night I was riding home and about one mile into the ride the battery pack on my lights started to fail. I don't need my lights so other people can see me (although that is a handy bi-product), I need them so I can see where I'm going and don't ride off the road by accident. So there I was, on some deserted country lane, treading the line between riding quickly to be home before my lights faded to nothing or riding slowly so as not to come off the road and into a tree. Not fun. At all.

This months MBUK came with an Evans catalogue. This is not a good thing because I now want to spend lots of money on shiny bits, especially the drivetrain on Sin:Dee which is a bit ropey. I would also like some new lights for the Orange so I can do some Knightriding.

I also want a motorbike but it's about £600 for me to do a direct access course and get my full licence. Then I have to get a bike and all the assorted gubbins. On top of that Anne and I are thinking about changing the car for something slightly more practical.

Hmm, Rubbish Things No. 2: Money.

Is ‘Knightriding’ where you dress up in Medieval armour and go about lancing things?.. if so.. Can I play?

  2. Owen Says:

Yes and yes. You have to bring your own armour though.

I have a cardboard box. And some silver paint. Can I play?

  4. Owen Says:

Yes but it’s at your own risk. Cardboard isn’t a great material to make armour out of.

You should get a glowing red strip that goes from side to side for the front of your bike so that can truly go ‘Knight Riding’. Plus, you could combine it with you armour and hey presto, your’re a Cylon! (By your command). Katie is doing well and has put on nealy 4 lbs!! She’s mahoossive! Excellent news for Anne on the old job front. We’ll have to get together sometime.
