Ultimate Band

This is something that we played while eating rabbit paella on my birthday a while back. I've been meaning to post it for ages but keep forgetting.

The challenge is to name your ultimate band line-up. They don't all have to be alive but it would be good if they could conceivably become a band! Here's my line up:

  • Front-man: Bono - OK so he doesn't necessarily have the best voice but as front-men go he is up there with the best. He's charismatic and has just the right balance of rock-star and real life about him.
  • Lead Guitar: Steve Vai - Just an awesome guitarist.
  • Bass Guitar: Mark King - A distinctly uncool choice but the guy is a bass guitar legend.
  • Drums: Stuart Copeland - Listen to his drumming on pretty much any Police track and it's hard not to be impressed. If you don't believe me, try drumming along with him.
  • Backing Vocals: Lorraine MacIntosh - I think this is just a hang-up from my formative years as a Deacon Blue fan-boy but I can't help loving the girls voice.

Ok, I know I don't have a rhythm guitarist or a keyboarder but those are optional so add them in if you want. I was tempted to have a Violinist but only because I wanted Sharon Corr in my band.

So, name your line up…

Front-man - Jeff Buckley - Soley because he had one of the most amazing voices I have ever heard
Lead guitar - Jimmy Page - He has created some of the best guitar licks ever, enough said
Bass - Flea - There are better players but not many with as much passion and style as Flea
Drums - Dave Grohl - He is in every other band, why not this one as well eh :-p
Backing vocals - Beth Gibons, Kathryn Williams and Nina Pearsons - Gotta be women, gotta be these three

No idea how that would all sound together, but damn it would be interesting :)
