Pain, Paint, TB and Jools
Fish Carnage
On Saturday I took a sample of water to the fish shop (about a 10 minute drive out of town) to get it checked as I have lost a few fish recently and a few more were looking dodgy. The water was fine so they said I should bring back the ill fish to be scraped (!) to find out what's wrong with it. I left it until Sunday but by then ill-fish was dead-fish so off I trot to the fish shop where they inform me that the fish has to be alive to be scraped. Home I go again and get the other ill-looking fish. I arrive back and the chap in the shop looks at it and says “Oooh, that's too small to be scraped but it's got wasting disease or Fish TB. You need to destroy the fish and any others that look the same.” So in the space of 2 weeks I have gone from having a fairly well stocked tank with ten fish to a sorry looking tank with five fish and I think I am going to have to lose another as it looks like it's going the same way.
I think the tank was infected by one of the fish I bought recently as when I was in the shop at the weekend I noticed that they didn't have any of that type of fish in there at all, leading me to think that their tank would have been infected. Grr.
Cindy Facelift
Cindy moved a step closer to being rebuilt over the weekend due to the coat of paint I gave her. Unfortunately, as part of my prep I thought it would be a good idea to knock the old headset cups into the frame before hanging it for spraying as this would effectively mask off the inside of the headtube. What wasn't such a good idea was mullering my thumb with the hammer and removing a big chunk of skin. Ow.

Still, she it now ready for the rebuild and once my stuff arrives from Chain Reaction I can get her ready to be ridden.
Winston's Wish and Jools Holland
Yesterday Anne and I blagged free passes to the Jools Holland gig at Berkley Castle. We managed this by collecting money for Winston's Wish which is a charity that does some excellent work with bereaved children (check them out at www.winstonswish.org.uk). Unfortunately it was one of those outside events where people bring chairs and tables and set up a little feast to consume while watching the gig which mena that people didn't have much spare cash on them. Still, those that gave did so generously and I think we raised a reasonable amount.

The gig itself was quality. The man Holland can sure play the piano (no J, I didn't get to go backstage and meet him) and his band were awesome. Jo Brown seemed a little off colour but still belted out a couple of good tracks. All in all it was great, if a little chilly.
We raised £3,677.75 for Winston’s Wish — with Anne raising £106.87 and Owen raising £44.22!
