Bikes, Beer and Business
It's been a while since I posted anything so thought I ought to catch you up with what's been happening.
Bikes
Well, progress on the Cindy rebuild has been a bit slow. The frame is prepped ready for paint, I just need to find time to actually spray it. I now have all the bits I need to rebuild her with the exception of a few cable inners. Hopefully she'll be up and running in a week or two - I'm quite looking forward to riding her offroad as it's been a loooong time since I rode a hardtail!
Have been for a couple of rides recently. Did the TuNG thing last night and had a blast over Cranham way. Had a couple of moments of over-confidence which almost lead to Weon/Ground interface but luckily I managed to stay in control (unlike poor old Olly who is still recovering from his spill in Morzine - get well soon chap!). Also went out in the rain with SBG at the weekend and was pleased that for the first time this year I wasn't the slowest and unfittest rider. Thanks Séan, I needed that!

I still haven't sold the BMX - someone make me an offer, I really need the shed space!
Beer
Tim had some spare tickets for the Cotswold Beer Festival at Postlip Hall near Winchcombe so Olly, Anne and I trundled off to sample the delights of the local ales and generally stand around chatting and making merry. We had a great evening even if the supply of the Espresso Stout did run out before I got a chance to taste it.

Unfortunately the heavens opened at about 10:30 just as people were beginning to head back to the Taxi pick up point. Olly and I got drenched but Anne, being a lady, was allowed the umbrella and therefore stayed relatively dry. Still, we had a great time - cheers for the tickets Tim!
Business
Well, things seem to be growing again. I have been put on a monthly retainer (a guaranteed amount of work, paid for in advance) by my biggest client. They have also offered me my own office, free of charge with no strings attached, out in Andoversford. I am hoping to move out there fairly soon but first I need to set myself up as a limited company rather than just as a sole trader. Lots of paper work to do and a few extra expenses but it should be worth it. I'm pretty excited about it all really.
I also have quite a bit of work coming in from other sources as well so this Summer is proving to be a little busier than last year which was deader than a dodo!
Baby
OK, one last B. I should probably send out some congratulations to my sister and brother-in-law as they recently had a second baby, a healthy little boy that they have named Noah. Now I have someone else to teach bad habits to!
Your own office, sounds cool
I’d love to get enough business for that, got a few projects on the go at the moment and i’ve even given in and started learning some code. I dont wether to be happy or scared that I now know how to do things with databases :p
August 9th, 2006 at 11:39 amYay, all of the above sounds ace!
August 9th, 2006 at 11:57 amWow you are a busy boy!! Can’t believe you ride a girl bike! You should eBay the BMX, I have just put our shed of a Corolla up and within 5 minutes I had a question about it! I would love to buy it but am tragically skint! Just to make your summer even busier, Bennetts is going to give you a call about that there web site! Congrats on the office - mental! (like, innit!)
August 9th, 2006 at 2:10 pmcheeky so and so.
I’m older than you, and I drive a proper desk job, unlike you, you scoundrel.. It’s Anne that I feel sorry for, what with you off cycling every day.
:o)
August 11th, 2006 at 8:27 amOff cycling every day? My waistline is testimony to how far wrong you are with that!
On the plus side, I think someone has finally agreed to buy the BMX which is excellent timing as (hopefully) Cindy will be rebuilt this weekend.
August 11th, 2006 at 9:19 amThose must have be some really keen diet pills for someone to bother to post a comment so lucid and witty.
