King of the Swingers
Phew, what a weekend! Saturday started well with Anne and I heading out to the Aquatic Habitat to by some more fish. I've had pretty much the same fish since I set the tank up about 10 months ago and felt it was time for some new faces. I came back armed with 2 new plants, three Siamese Algae Eaters (little catfish that keep the tank clean - perfect for lazy people like me) and two Blue Rainbowfish. They all seem to be doing well and the tank looks much better for these additions. In the evening Deborah came round to watch the footie and have a BBQ. Hmm, well, let's just say the food was good and the football was predictable and leave it there eh?
Sunday was cool - a group of 11 of us headed over to the forest to Go Ape. This is a kind of assault course crossed with an ewok village (thanks for the analogy Olly), with the different sections being linked with zip wires. All the obstacles are graded from green to black so you can decide to take the easy route if it looks a bit too taxing.
The sun was blazing and we were all overheating but it was a very cool activity, the highlights of which were the enormous zipwire at the end and the tarzan swing into a cargo net that filled all of us with varying degrees of terror. Funniest moment was Ben failing to grab hold of the cargo net and ending up hangin between the platform he had just leapt from and the net itself!
I also caught up with Matt D who I hadn't seen for a couple of years, and Brett who I hadn't seen since his return from sonwboarding in Switzerland (git).
In the evening we went to hear our good friend Paul speak at Trinity and it was so hot in there I lost half my body weight through sweating so much - nice!
Today it's far too hot to work and I just had a call from Powergen to tell me I owe them over a hundred pounds for gas that they haven't been supplying me. How many more times will I have to tell you, you pathetic excuse for an energy company? I don’t owe you any money!
Sounds like fun. Did you do the final Tarzan Swing? shudder/

July 3rd, 2006 at 4:28 pmI chickened out of the big Tarzan swing, until peer pressure got the better of me. Debs just walked off the platform (but secretly, I think she’s a bit simple - she going out with me is the first bit of evidence that I had)
During the first section - I kept thinking that I would stop at the first opportunity, but the ripslide convinced me to stay.
