It’s all about Wee, er, I mean Wii

WeeeeeeeeeeeNintendo have announced that their new console is to be called Wii (pronounced We). Odd. If you read the marketing announcement it is full of the usual marketing gumf. However, if you subsititute every "we" or "Wii" with "wee" it makes it much more amusing.

Introducing… Wii [wee].

As in "we [wee]".

While the code-name "Revolution" expressed our direction, Wii [wee] represents the answer.

Wii [wee] will break down that wall that separates video game players from everybody else.

Wii [wee] will put people more in touch with their games… and each other. But you're probably asking: What does the name mean?

Wii [wee] sounds like "we [wee]", which emphasises this console is for everyone.

Wii [wee] can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii [wee].

Wii has a distinctive "ii" spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the image of people gathering to play.

And Wii [wee], as a name and a console, brings something revolutionary to the world of video games that sets it apart from the crowd.

So that's Wii [wee]. But now Nintendo needs you.

Because, it's really not about you or me.

It's about Wii [wee].

And together, Wii [wee] will change everything.

Sorry, I'll stop being childish now.

I bet some will say “it’s different” like about that awful Robie Williams song of last year (can’t remember the track sorry).

“Owen, it’s diner time, stop playing with your wee!”

  4. SImon Says:

Oh dear, just as you think Nintendo could release something that will put them back at the front of the console wars they go and get a kid to name. Just wait for the Nintendo p00 to come out next.

  5. Owen Says:

Robie Williams sounds like some kind of Bangra-based popster.

I quite liked this artcle about it - “In short: it’s not a video game name; that’s the whole point; and you can bet that Actual People, as opposed to the Internet, won’t have a problem with it.”

  7. Owen Says:

Good reading. I don’t really care what they call it as long as it’s good - I just couldn’t resist being childish. At least it’s original and not simply the old name with a number tagged on the end (Sony are about to commit that sin for the second time).

    Man thats some strong wee:
[quote]Wii [wee] will break down that wall…[/quote]

  9. Daniel Says:

    “Wii will rock you”

    Can I patent that ?

After a quick chat to someone in the hotel at breakfast this morning… it occurs to me that this is also going to be a problem for some northerners

As in “Y I Mate” or “Wi I Mate”
