Bikes, Battlefront and Bereavement
Hmm, I haven't posted anything for a while. So what's new? Well, over the weekend I played a fair bit of Star Wars: Battlefront with Garry on the PS2. We had a great time laughing at the fact that Garry has all the gaming skills of a piece of soggy cabbage but he still enjoyed playing anyway. We had it set on Easy mode anyway so we made a fair bit of progress. I always play games on Easy because I don't get to play very often and when I do I like to feel like I am making some progress! Anyhoo, if you don't have SW:BF and you are thinking of buying SW:BF2, don't. The games are almost identical, even down to the levels and missions. Save yourself 15 quid and buy the first one.
Sunday saw Man Utd held to a 0-0 draw against Burton Albion who are four divisions below them (yep, they are not even in the football league). It made me proud to support such a top class team. Still, Arsenal lost to Wigan last night and tonight we are going to hammer Blackburn
Last night I went to film society with Olly and Anne to watch a Chilean movie called Machuca which was fantastic. We then came home and Olly and I watched a programme all about Japanese cinema that made both of us want to go and watch loads of Japanese movies!
I woke up this morning to find that yet another of my fish had died. I don't understand why - all the chemical levels in the water seem to be fine. So I'm back down to six fish now. If they keep dying I may just give up on them and become fishless again - I just can't take all this trauma!
2006 Ride No. 3
As Olly so aptly put it "There's a sky - I'll be really disappointed if I find you're not out on your bike already!". The last few days have been flinking miserable so I made the most of the fact that Mr Sun came out today. Having received my new bike computer from CRC I thought I'd quickly fit it and go for a spin. Hmm, it turned out to be more complicated that I first anticipated. The main reason for this was that I wasn't really thinking about what I was doing and so ended up fitting it twice due to my own ineptitude when it came to routing the wire from the sensor up to the handlebars! Half an hour and 12 zip-ties later I was ready to go!
I did the same route as a week ago because I wanted to know how far it was. It was really muddy and I got covered but the sun was out so I didn't care. It only took me an hour and it turns out that the route is a shade under 10 miles (9.92 to be precise). I think I may have over-cooked this jump…

Hopefully I'll make it out this Friday and retrace the route I did last friday. That way I'll have an accurate record of how far I've travelled this year. Huzzah!
Is that right near the far end of dog-poo alley?
Man, I sooo wanted to ride my bike today. Being stuck in the office wasn’t much fun at all
January 11th, 2006 at 10:14 pmYou are very close with your guess young Olly. That pic was taken on the bit between the end of DPA and the start of that very short, very steep climb up to the main path atop Leckhampton.
And before Mr P says anything, I am well aware that Utd didn't hammer Blackburn after all. It was more of a "hitting weakly with a damp sponge" display.
January 12th, 2006 at 8:53 amTo be honest Owen you did enough by scoring the one goal, now we have to go to Old Traford and win… *sigh* ah well it could happen. We’ve done it already. It’s the day after my birthday as well so would be a nice present.
You have to admit that Morten’s goal was rather good, that’s three now so far this season against you, bet you love him :-p
January 12th, 2006 at 9:34 amThe only Morten I love is Morten Harket. Mr Pederson is turning out to be a good player for you this season - he has scored some absolute screamers.
January 12th, 2006 at 9:41 amHey - I said 7 miles… Do I win a prize?
January 13th, 2006 at 10:47 amWhat, for being wrong? No.
