Spam, Spam or Spam
Being fairly new to this blogging malarky I haven't really had any call to block spam comments on my this site. However, at the suggestion of Mr Olly I installed a plugin for Wordpress called Spam Karma. Written by the mysterious Dr Dave it checks every comment that is left and then uses magic to either let it through and onto the site or to codemn it to the murky depths of the underworld (not the udderworld as I typed originally which I guess is where bad cows end up).
Over the last week, Weon.co.uk has obviously got onto some kind of spammers target list as I am getting daily reports on all the crappy comments being left and destroyed by the dark magic of SK. If you use Wordpress, download and install Spam Karma - it'll make your blogging life easier and increase your sex appeal*.
*That last bit may not actually be actually true, in actuality.
Random spam fact from hereabouts: “Our systems filter out 125,000 junk e-mails and 1,500 viruses every week”
November 25th, 2005 at 11:48 amAt least 5,000 of those Junk e-mails are from Mr Hobbs.

November 25th, 2005 at 2:16 pmOh. It’s real good plugin. It’s help me in battle with spammers.
December 4th, 2005 at 10:17 amP.S.Sorry for my English.
I haven’t had to use this yet. At th most I get two a day. I just set my approval settings to only allow people who I have approved to comment on my blog. Once you are approved, you can spam away pretty much.
Maybe someday my little blog will be as big as yours.. or Olly’s for that matter!
December 12th, 2005 at 12:45 amYeah, my blog is second only to Microsoft.
Or not.
Spam karma is cool becuse it has an IP blacklist which automatically filters out all the well-known bad domains. I didn’t really need it until about a month ago and now I get about 5-10 spam comments a day so SK earns it’s crust.
December 12th, 2005 at 11:07 amSomeone else below asked this already about antispam scripts.
I am getting nailed with Spam on my website mails and in our blog website - now its offline too
much spam. Is there anyway to stop this? If not, there really isn’t any point in leaving it up
and active. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for help, Keep up the good work. Greetings from Poland
