Dodgy Plumbing
So Anne and I were lying in bed last night. It was about 11pm, Anne was dozing off and I was watching Match of the Day 2. All of a sudden there was a large bang from somewhere in our house. It was one of those noises where you know you should be concerned but you have no idea where it came from. I assumed that something had fallen over in the wardrobe and didn't give it another thought. The next thing I know, I hear dripping in the en suite. I go in to find water coming through the ceiling. Great.
Now picture me in my boxers venturing up into the loft to investigate (I know it's not a pretty sight). At this point it was below zero outside so I reckon about 3 or 4 degrees in the loft itself. I am freezing and slowly gaining the ability to cut glass. I look around and it turns out that a piece of flexible pipe that connects the waste downpipe to a vent on the roof has fallen off. I can only assume that it was sagging and as such had slowly filled with condensing water until the weight got too much. Somehow all the water avoided the light fittings and so we still have power but there are now a series of puddles in the loft. Someone is supposed to be coming to fix it today but so far no-one has appeared. Great.
Thanks for the visual
Seriously though, that sucks. I hate plumbing problems.

I answered the door to the postman in nowt but my boxer shorts this morning. That was a little chilly to say the least.
November 21st, 2005 at 11:23 pmNice! Do you think he’ll ever come back?
As you say, it is nice that the house comes with a warranty but (unsurprisingly) no-one appeared yesterday to fix it.
Look at the time of this comment - I’m already up and working!

November 22nd, 2005 at 9:34 amTell me about it. I had a meeting planned for 10am with a certain Ms Ward so got up early to do some work. I got a call at 9:05 to say that she had double-booked and needed to cancel the meeting. Grrr.
