Good, Bad and Ugly
The good thing about being self-employed is that you get paid for every bit of work you do. The bad thing is that if you have no work to do, you don't get paid (in my last job I got paid for quite often sitting around doing nothing). It seems that my work flow tends to be a bit tidal. I will have weeks where I have nothing and then other times when I have a lot to do at once, like now. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I do need some sleep though. I still haven't recovered from Joe and Emma's wedding in Scottishland last weekend (more on that soon) but I will be working until at least 10pm tonight.
I have also had to spend about 5 hours today doing admin work. That is the ugly part of this job as it's not really what I would call my vocation in life!
On a completeley different note, I'm having a bit of a retro day today on the old music front. Simple Minds - Real Life, REM - Out Of Time, Deacon Blue - Raintown, Seal - Seal (1991) and some Bowie. Nice.
I’ve been self employed a while too and yep, some weeks are dry well as some are packed! Haha, well yes at my job now I sometimes get paid for doing nothing, times like these where I read other blogs! I’m just trying to balance out my regular work with some freelance stuff and also build a client base and then make the switch so then I would not have those quiet weeks.
On another note, i’ve never had that retro day you speak of.
