It would seem that Opera have finally realised that integrating banner adverts in their browser might just contribute to the reasons people don't really use it (and why Firefox has been so flinkin' successful).
From today you can download and use Opera free of charge with no annoying ads. So how are they going to fund future development? Well, you can now buy support packages starting from $29 a year.
If you fancy taking Opera for a spin, visit www.opera.com and say I sent you - they’ll know what it means.
Also, I'm pretty sure John Inman isn't actually their cover-girl. I may have made that up myself.
I feel sorry for the people who bought it yesterday - and indeed peeps like me who bought it a few weeks back. N’er mind eh?
