What a scorcher!

Well, it's been a scorcher of a weekend. My friend TJ arrived on Friday from Tonbridge (home of Kelly Holmes who apparently went to the same school as TJ) and we promptly started preparing for a barbeque that night. After assembling the worlds most complex BBQ we were all set for the feast that was coming. Brett and Olly turned up and we got going. After much chatting, eating, drinking and laughing 11pm rolled around and the desire for sweets hit us all (except for Anne who called it a night and went to bed).

So there we were, four friends the wrong side of 25, in Tesco sweet aisle, giggling like children, buying enough sweets for a class of school-kids. Having got them back to chéz Clay, we proceeded to demolish an entire family-bag of Revels playing Revel Roulette (take it in turns to choose a Revel, trying to avoid the coffee ones) in about 2 minutes, along with half a bag of M&Ms, half a bag of Malteasers and about eight jumbo Flumps (the best 10p you can spend in Tesco). Ten minutes later, we were all looking like we were suffering from a hangover - the sugar rush had turned into the sugar crash. It's the oddest thing to feel hungover but to know it's due to sweets! We called it a night and went to our respective beds feeling a little sick!

What a motley crew!

Saturday

Saturday was spent lounging in the sun, reading magazines and eating lovely food (I had swordfish for the first time and it was delicious). TJ and I played the traditional Brits by having to go inside and cool off every half an hour but Anne somehow sat outside all day without passing out! I think she has a secret lizard gene meaning she thrives on basking in the sun! In the evening we watched the outstanding Sexy Beast and TJ watched the eviction on Celebrity Lame Island.

Sunday

Sunday followed pretty much the same pattern. Apparently England won some cricket but sporting highlight of the weekend was the USA Grand Prix in which only 6 cars competed due to all of the Michelin runners pulling out because their tyres were unsafe. It made strangely compelling viewing as right up until the start we didn't know what was going to happen but as the Michelin runners pulled into the pits and 6 cars lined up on the grid it was clear that politics had beaten common sense into submission and there was to be no race to speak of. F1 may never recover in the USA but never mind - they have Kart racing to keep them happy. Great.

All in all a great weekend and I have another planned just like it in 5 days time!

I look like one of those bouncy head things out of Spirited Away :-)

That reminds me - can I borrow the DVD? I still haven’t seen it!

  3. Pete Says:

Formula 1 eh? Load of rubbish. You’d be a real mug to go and watch it I reckon.

  4. Olly Says:

Owen - Aye, I’ll drop it around at some point.

Pete - Aye, I’ll be less than happy if they do that again at Silverstone.
