Yesterday’s forecast:
Tomorrow will be overcast with light showers
Translation:
Tomorrow will see very light drizzle as you leave the house, turning into full on, drench-you-to-the-bone rain as you get closer to work.
To add insult to injury, the rain is just getting heavier. Mmm, I am so excited about the ride home…
In other news, O2 have just sent me my fourth K850i. Three have broken so far (since Feb) so I’m not holding out much hope for this one. I have to have four go wrong before they’ll let me choose a different phone. Also, their customer service is shocking. I think it’ll be Vodafone for me next time. They might be more expensive but apparently their service is great. </rant>

Do I have mild OCD? As I was searching for a pair of socks this morning I had to root through all the ones that said Monday, Saturday etc. until I found the pair with Wednesday on. Otherwise it was to be a pair with no day on.
I also have to put CDs and DVDs back in the case so that the text on the disk face runs horizontally.
When I’m working I like design elements to line up exactly and I like to use whole numbers or at least 0.25 increments when it comes to sizing things.
I measure the location of the centre speaker of our surround sound system to make sure it is exactly in the middle of the unit it sits on.
These are just a few of my foibles. Maybe I’m losing it.

What a weekend! Took (and passed) my CBT along with my cousin Alec. Yay us. Watched the movie Brick which is a bit artsy, a bit of a head-scratcher but is ultimately great (plus, if they need someone to take Heath Ledger’s place as the Joker the Joseph Gordon-Levitt has to the front runner as he is the spitting image). On Sunday I had a great brunch of croissant, eggs, ham and cheese, washed down with smoothie and coffee, all sat in the sun. Watched United clinch their tenth Premiership title. Had dinner in the cool of the evening.
What a chilled and awesome time.
Anyway, enough about me. How’ve you been?

You may already know about this but in case you don’t here is a way to avoid paying the premium for calling 0800, 0808, 0844, 0845, 0870 and 0871 numbers.
Simply head over to www.saynoto0870.com and enter the number you have. It’ll then search for the geographical alternative so you avoid paying a premium.
Super.

I’ve never really seen myself as a SAD sufferer but it is amazing the difference a bit of sunshine makes. The last few days have been baking hot and I have felt brilliant. It also seems that pretty much everyone I meet has been cheerier and happier.
Barring the near cardiac arrest I suffered riding to work on Wednesday (that’s what you get for doing no exercise for 6 weeks) it’s been great. Eating lunch outside, meeting mates for a quick beer after work, kicking back and relaxing. Awesome.
However, it’s raining this morning. Here are some pictures from earlier in the week to cheer me (and you) up.

Lindsay just came into the office:
“I’ve just seen a lizard.”
“In this country? Are you sure it wasn’t a newt?”
“It looked like a lizard. Come and see it.”
Sure enough, there was a tiny lizard basking in the sun.
Did you know there were lizards in the UK? I had no idea. Apparently they are here and they are protected (despite being called the Common Lizard).

Anne no longer works on Fridays. The joy of being a contractor in demand is that you can tell people you’ll only work 4 days and they’ll say it’s fine. Not that I’m jealous. Not one bit.
Anyhoo, today Anne has been shopping in Brum. I got a phone call saying “Shall I buy a Wii Fit?” and I thought it would be churlish to refuse. That means that this weekend, in addition to watching Man Utd overcome Chelsea (fingers crossed) I shall be standing on a small plastic board, trying desperately to head imaginary footballs or balance on one leg. I’m not sure why but I’m quite excited!

This morning I was walking to the bus station and scrolling through the music on my iPod I came across The Last Broadcast by Doves. I hadn’t heard that in ages so I clicked play and carried on my merry way.
Maybe it was because the sun was out, maybe it was because there was a pretty girl on the bus when I got on, maybe it’s just because the music was great. Whatever it was, I was blown away.
From There Goes the Fear, through M62 Song and hitting New York it’s hard to find a duff track on this album. Soaring melodies, exciting lyrics and a general mix of awesomeness makes this album worth a fresh listen. I’m looking forward to the journey home when I can listen to the rest of the tracks.
So dig it out, dust it off and take it for a spin again.
Now I have to stop myself from logging on to Amazon and buying th rest of their albums…
